Description: Release Manager for Business Intelligence area

Our direct client is looking for 
Release Manager for Business Intelligence area

The successful candidate should have at least two years of professional, hands-on experience in release management. Candidate will provide coordination and oversight of the configuration and change management disciplines for the implementation of Shared Business Intelligence Systems (SBIS) Data Warehouse projects to ensure proper alignment between Release Management processes and functional IT Teams. Should also have expertise in software engineering processes and methodologies covering the entire software lifecycle.
 
Specific Responsibilities:
 
Change Management:
  • Comply with Enterprise Change Management (ECM) Standard and related procedures across development, system test, customer test and production environments. Includes coordinating creation, approval and monitoring of required change(HPSM) tickets
  • Work with application development teams and Enterprise Change Management team to develop and maintain a schedule of changes
  • Acting as a liaison to departments outside of SBIS to manage change impacts. Participate in enterprise release coordination as SBIS representative, prepare Monthly Release Management reports (SBIS Release report, SBIS executive report)
  • Work with the application development teams through all phases of the development lifecycle to remove barriers to software delivery and ensure smooth implementations of application version and off-version releases
  • Holds application development teams accountable for adhering to ECM standards and processes
  • Coordinate with application DBA and core DA (Data Administration) to manage database changes across all environments
  • Manage tracking and reporting of change metrics (reports by release type – version, off version, emergency, etc.) and the associated details (complexity, business impact, etc.)
Configuration Management:
  • Developing strategic solutions that leverage features of our Enterprise source code versioning and deployment tools
  • Comply with IT Governance and enterprise source code versioning and deployment standards.
  • Create solutions to meet the changing needs of our enterprise source code versioning and deployment tools; Architecting and managing implementation of versioning and deployment processes and tools across all environments
  • Drive continuous improvement in the Build and Deploy process
  • Mentors team members on configuration management processes and methodologies including development of best practices
  • Work with the application development teams to understand technical details of deployment and packaging needs, update change(HPSM) tickets with required documentation and coordinate deployment of such needs
  • Provide support on resolution of deployment issues. This may require working during off hours (production deployments occur during off hours). \
  • Issue Management: Log, track and coordinate resolution of versioning and deployment related issues
  • Provides division and enterprise areas management with timely and accurate information regarding deployment metrics
 
Requirements:
  • Minimum 5 years of IT experience
  • Experience with a source-code repository (Subversion) and deployment tools (ISCMS, Tivoli, BMC)
  • SDLC Methodology
  • Strong technical, analysis, debugging and problem-resolution skills
  • Ability lead matrix or temporarily assigned project team members
  • Ability and willingness to quickly learn new applications and technologies
  • Ability to work effectively in a highly-collaborative team environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities at same time
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Must have strong interpersonal, planning and organizational skills.
Desirable (but not required):
  • DataStage - ETL tool
  • Ab Initio - ETL tool
  • Teradata
  • Cognos 8
  • In depth knowledge of ITIL process and certification
